Sachtler
Lighting

Sachtler has been a complete supplier of film and television lighting since 1992. We realize that users have diverse lighting needs, so we offer a huge range of luminaire types and categories. Our luminaires are highly valued - and not only in the film and television branches. They are also used in many public places, for example the Federal Chancellery building in Berlin.

LED

In designing Reporter 8LED, Sachtler´s new LED on-camera light, special emphasis was placed on durability, compactness and flexibility. The Reporter 8LED offers input voltage from 6 to 24 volts, making it ideal for use with a range of camera from small 7.2 volt (H)DV cameras to commonly-used broadcast camcorders. The luminaire deploys all the advantages of the latest LED technology: energy efficiency, the exceptionally long life of the LED chip, an extremely low failure rate, and minimal heat generation.

A rigid, waterproof aluminium housing allows use of the Reporter 8LED in extreme shooting situations. The user can apply three different accessory sets to provide a wide range of light design solutions. The fixture can be also used as a small location light by placing it on a mounting base or on a mini croco clamp.

Reporter 8LED is available in a daylight version. An exchangeable LED module makes it a simple matter to convert to a tungsten light. The luminaire's standard flood optic lens can easily be exchanged for a medium optic lens after detaching the 4-leaf barndoor frame with quick-release mechanism.

Key features:

  • Robust, unbreakable, waterproof, compact, small and light-weight
  • Aluminium housing allows for fast heat dissipation
  • Usage of one LED module (no multiple shadows)
  • "Works with SOOM" product

Daylight

Daylight luminaires feature a color temperature of between 5,600 K and 6,000 K and thus offer the intensity of natural sunlight. The bulbs in these lamps are filled with a combination of halogen gases and a series of metals, including rare earth metals. Because the distance between the electrodes in daylight luminaires is so small, they achieve a higher light efficiency and better color reproduction than tungsten luminaires, with the capacity ranging from 200 W to 18 kW.
Also known as HMI or metal halide lamps, daylight luminaires are the most well-known discharge lamps. A ballast produces the high voltage required to ignite the light arc between the electrodes and sustain the arc voltage.
Modern electronic ballasts can also be used to dim the output of a daylight luminaire by between 50 % and 100 %.
These luminaires are mainly used for outdoor production, and are also very popular for night shoots, as their color temperature is more efficient at creating an authentic night look.

Even though ENG cameras are becoming increasingly sophisticated, no film crew can do without additional lighting. To ensure optimally illuminated pictures, Sachtler offers an ideally graduated range of daylight Reporter luminaires. All luminaires are robust, absolutely silent and fully protected from moisture.

Tungsten: >>>

Tungsten

The best-known representative of an artificial light source - the classical light bulb - can be found in every home. The entertainment industry also uses tungsten halogen lamps with much smaller glass bulbs made of quartz glass. They are filled with a mixture of inert gases and halogen, which prevents the bulb from being blackened. The result is a higher light output and much longer lamp life.

Fluorescent Lighting

On the one hand Topas luminaires can be categorized as cold lights because they generate very little heat. They require less energy and stand out for their long working life. On the other hand, these large-surfaced lights are also referred to as softlights because of their extremely soft light emission. The layout of the illuminants ensures both exceptionally even light emission and optimal cooling, because a stream of air constantly flows through the luminaire. This optimizes light output even during extended use.

Lighting-Sets

Complete sets, which include up to three luminaires, are available for all reporter luminaires. The sets also include illuminants, tripods, filters and other accessories - all safely and compactly stored in an aluminium case.
